There’s something majestic about reclaimed wood – something poetic about taking discarded pieces of nature and transforming them into art and utility.
That’s what we do here at Wood Worx: we take reclaimed wood and give them new purpose in the form of sculptures and furniture.
All the wood we use is reclaimed. We find fallen pieces of nature and lovingly bring them back to our studio to unlock their inner beauty in the artistic shapes we create.
Not only is this process true to nature; it’s also environmentally friendly. Here’s how.
Reclaimed Wood Uses Less Energy
It takes energy to harvest trees for any purpose, whether it’s making furniture, building lumber, or paper. Most of the energy we use in this nation comes from fossil fuels. So, whenever we harvest a tree, we’re burning fossil fuels that pollute the environment.
Using reclaimed wood doesn’t burn fossil fuels or consume energy (except for the energy it takes to pick it up and haul it away in a truck). Every time you purchase a product made from reclaimed wood, you are doing Mother Nature a favor.
There’s Less Waste in Landfills
What happens to wood after it falls and lies on the ground?
Most of the time, this discarded wood is loaded up into a truck and delivered to a dump or landfill, where it is unceremoniously dumped and left behind. The more material that enters a landfill, the larger the landfill grows. And the larger the landfill grows, the more of nature that is consumed by our refuse.
We enjoy the fact that we’re helping to keep a small amount of wood from living the rest of its days in a landfill that mars our beautiful planet. When you buy reclaimed wood, you’re helping reduce waste and increase recycling.
You Can Prevent Deforestation
Finally, when you buy furniture that comes from reclaimed wood, you are using less harvested lumber, which results in fewer trees being chopped down for furniture.
Our insatiable desire for wood products like furniture and paper is leading to widespread deforestation all over the world. At Wood Worx, we’re trying to do our part to keep forests healthy and growing by decreasing demand for harvested lumber, one sculpture and furniture piece at a time.
Support the earth and protect the environment by buying reclaimed wood products. Life is beautiful, especially when it’s conserved. Help us conserve our planet.
